The NCG Development & Procurement at H&M Group, Group Expansion in Stockholm & Hong Kong is responsible for developing NCG products for our physical stores, providing our customers with a shopping experience that makes us one of the most loved fashion brands in the world!

Job Description

We are now looking for a Lighting Engineer that will be part of developing lighting products for all  H&M Group brands. You will work in close collaboration with a team of engineers placed in Stockholm, and also closely with, several buyers and creative roles, all placed in Stockholm. In close collaboration with these roles and together with our global suppliers you will develop lighting products securing the right quality, requirements and look & feel for all our +70 markets. This role will be based in HK as it will also collaborate with the NCG Development & Procurement teams in Asia.

Your responsibilities 

Product development of technical lighting, decorative lighting and lit signage

  • Light quality, energy efficacy, electrical components and materials.
  • Certifications; understanding the process, electrical safety, market deviations and needs.
  • Evaluation of lighting products hard/soft values such as: light scheme, data specifications and perceived light.
  • Evaluation of lighting products in a test environment or in a physical store environment.
  • Evaluation of light scheme, 3D environment (Relux/Dialux, Revit etc.) or in a physical store. 

R&D of lighting products, continuous improvement; new innovations, efficacy and quality.

Structuring drawings and specifications in CAD / PLM system.

Collaboration and contact with suppliers on a global market.

Managing projects or part of projects according to briefs


We are looking for a Lighting Engineer or a Design Engineer that has experience from developing lighting products and a genuine mechanical and electronical interest. You have an overall understanding of the retail industry and want to be part of driving the success of H&M Group further. 

You are an open-minded team player who enjoys working in an international environment and have the ability to handle multiple complex projects at the same time. We believe you to be brave in your way of working, you get energy from trying the unfamiliar with an agile mindset and always welcoming the unexpected. You are communicative person with a positive attitude, you take ownership of your work and always give it your best.   • Min. Bachelor degree within engineering, mechanical or electronics.
  • Min. 3 years work experience within your graduation.
  • Genuine interest in mechanics and electronics.
  • Excellent knowledge in 3D CAD and PLM systems.
  • International experience from education or work.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Experience from working in cross functional teams and projects.
  • Ability to travel according to business needs.
