Job Description

The Role
The Principal Software Engineer is a hands-on technology leadership role. As a technology leader, Principal Software Engineers are accountable for the overall technical alignment, capability, engineering quality and productivity of a team. They thrive at SEEK by driving continuous improvement and great customer outcomes. This role can be based in Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur.

Primarily responsible for contributing to the SEEK iOS mobile app to deliver great customer outcomes for Discover and Career Services. Working in close collaboration with mobile platform leaders to ensure contributions are aligned with the broader mobile apps technical strategy.

    •  Apps Platform team
    • Architecture and Practices team
    • Security team
Key accountabilities include:
  • Owning the technical approach for mobile apps platform contribution across the sub domain
  • Evolving delivery processes to align with the mobile apps platforms
  • Contributing to SEEK’s overall mobile apps technology strategy and aligning systems with that strategy
  • Ensuring systems are fit for purpose, well architected and follow current SEEK development practices
  • Maintaining platform health ensuring that our systems are secure, reliable, resilient, and cost effective
  • Driving customer focus to ensure that we are delivering great outcomes for our customers
  • Growing the technical and leadership capabilities through coaching and mentoring
  • Consult with stakeholders, to translate technical concerns into business impacts and provide relevant information to inform and facilitate effective decision making
  • Act as an enabler for the team, removing obstacles from their paths and identifying potentials for delivery, business, and process improvements
  • Help facilitate the tension between the desire for immediate delivery and the long-term viability of the code bases
  • Share operational support duties

Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge in at least one leading Mobile Apps technology (iOS)
  • Creates software in at least two modern software development languages
  • Creates and maintains continuous delivery pipelines using current practices, patterns & tooling
  • Creates software using secure coding practices and mitigates common vulnerabilities
  • Uses current technical practices such as writing clean, testable code and pair programming

Discover and Career Services provides products and services to candidates in job markets across the Asia Pacific region. We operate under the 3 brands of JobStreet, JobsDB and SEEK to help over 150 million candidates find employment.

The team comprises of multiple squads focused on various parts of the candidate journey from initially landing on the website or mobile app through to applying for a suitable opportunity.

The longer-term focus of the team is to consolidate all systems into a common platform for all regions with the goal of building product features once and continually delivering at scale.
